IOWA BASEMENT TAPES - #29 1-17-2019

This is the first of a new weekly feature. It is a show Kristian Day, a long time artist of many genres, does featuring the metal, punk, and alternative music of our state.

Night Listeners -
Iowa Basement Tapes is back this week and its super heavy! I found the remains of the old Iowa Hadcore.com site which is now iowahardcore.blogger.com and found all kinds of goodies including The Tanks, Solid Attitude, and Through Hard Times. Good Ol' Bensmasher also informed me that Sludgeplow's Turned Earth album got remastered and re-released this past October. GET IT. A shout out to The Ruralists in Sioux City for sending me their album.

Catch us every Thursday from 9PM -10PM on 98.9 FM KFMG-LP DES MOINES & KCOE COE COLLEGE CEDAR RAPIDS.

OTHER SOURCES: An Iowa Noise Music Compilation

Although it doesn't have a big following, the noise music scene here is still strong. What the scene lacks in numbers, it makes up in dedication.

One of these days, I plan on doing a podcast episode on Iowa's more experimental music, including noise. But for now, I can give you this compilation put together by The Centipede Farm, an Iowa record label that has supported the noise scene for many years.

But in the meantime, here's a compilation put out by Centipede Farmer, who is well known to the noise and metal music scenes.

Episode 37: Happy Hawkeye Halloween 2016, Part 4 of 4 - Scary Silhouette

Well, well, you've made it this far. And still in one piece? At least, physically, bwahahahaha!

Shall we see if your little human minds can handle the last of our awe-inspiring hymns of horror?

I warn you now, these final tunes contain subject matter and language that some of the more delicate of you can't handle. If you believe you are one of these, then leave now while I still give you a chance to do so!

Now for the more hardy of you, prepare for hard rock and hip hop tales of Satanism and murder mayhem!

Enjoy! Bwahahahahaha!

PLAYLISTS - "Fake" Iowa Bands!!

While looking for Iowa artists on Spotify, I came across a couple of fake Iowa bands! They reference our wonderful and beautiful state, but, it turns out, they are NOT from here! In fact, some aren't even from our country!

Well, it's time to out these fakers and expose their masquerade! So I present not one, not even two, but THREE playlists featuring all the non-Iowans that pretend to be us. So give it a listen, so you know who these would-be Iowans are!

And for the bands that hide their Iowa impersonations from Spotify, YouTube, and SoundCloud, I present their BandCamp music! Theses imitators think they can hide from us, but I have pushed them into the light!

One band, though, does not deserve to be associate with these other rascals. Iowa Park from Texas come by their name honestly, as Texas has a town by that name. So I give them a reprieve!

Links to all the bands are below.
