This is just another in our long series of playlists. And like the name says, this one features the latest music by Iowa artists that I could find on Bandcamp. It features a blend of experimental, metal, instrumental, and electronic music, with a punk tune as well!
Carlos is back on co-host duty as we discuss the Feed Me Weird Things concert series with its director, Chris Wiersema! Chris brings avant-garde and experimental musicians from all over the country to Iowa City and pairs them with equally adventurous local acts, many of which have also played at our concerts and/or been featured on this radio show. This week we present just two performances. One is from Iowa City band, The Main Sequence, with some ambient prog music. Then Boris and Natasha present some singer/songwriter music accompanied by violin.
Well, we once again look at the hip-hop and rap music in Iowa.
There are other genres I haven't even covered yet, but the submissions are piling up, so here we are!

Although it doesn't have a big following, the noise music scene here is still strong. What the scene lacks in numbers, it makes up in dedication.
One of these days, I plan on doing a podcast episode on Iowa's more experimental music, including noise. But for now, I can give you this compilation put together by The Centipede Farm, an Iowa record label that has supported the noise scene for many years.
But in the meantime, here's a compilation put out by Centipede Farmer, who is well known to the noise and metal music scenes.
Okay, due to middle-age family-man stuff I had to get done, computer issues, and a much needed two-day get-away with the wife and another couple, I didn't get my article finished last week.. Still working on it and should have it out before the end of the week.
In the meantime. I figured I'd put together another playlists. But I put on too many Spotify playlists lately, and decided to do something different. So I looked on my SoundCloud stream, and made a playlists of the latest 8 songs performed by Iowans that were on there.
While looking for Iowa artists on Spotify, I came across a couple of fake Iowa bands! They reference our wonderful and beautiful state, but, it turns out, they are NOT from here! In fact, some aren't even from our country!
Well, it's time to out these fakers and expose their masquerade! So I present not one, not even two, but THREE playlists featuring all the non-Iowans that pretend to be us. So give it a listen, so you know who these would-be Iowans are!
And for the bands that hide their Iowa impersonations from Spotify, YouTube, and SoundCloud, I present their BandCamp music! Theses imitators think they can hide from us, but I have pushed them into the light!
One band, though, does not deserve to be associate with these other rascals. Iowa Park from Texas come by their name honestly, as Texas has a town by that name. So I give them a reprieve!
