EPISODE 43: Guest Producer Trinity Neal of Music Tsunami

From time to time, we feature podcast episodes where someone besides me picks the music. I feel it helps add variety. If you'd like to be a guest producer, feel free to write me at iowamusicshowcase@gmail.com.

This month's episode's songs were all picked and chosen by Trinity Neal, founder of the Des Moines music website, Music Tsunami.

In case you didn't read about it last week, Music Tsunami describes itself this way:

"This page is to give support and pay tribute to: All our musicians, bands and artists that are sharing their talents with us. They struggle in their daily lives to trade their passion in for pennies so that we can have music in our world.

"This is an ALL genre promotion page. You will not be turned down because of the genre you or your band plays. All of you are invited as well as encouraged to post to your music, pics, videos, show information, merch etc..."
- from their Facebook page

"This site is dedicated to give support and pay tribute to: All our musicians, bands and artists that are sharing their talents with us. They struggle in their daily lives to trade their passion in for pennies so that we can have music in our world. Support local musicians. Wherever you are go see a show! Buy their shit and talk about them with your buds. THANK YOU FOR ROCKIN OUR SOULS!"
- from their ReverbNation page

Besides founding and working on Music Tsunami, the only things I know about Trinity is she married to 3 people and has a civil union with another! And that for her "me + ☊ = goodbye world". Her politics involve rejecting the system! And she studied blowing shit up with her mind at Iowa State Univeristy. She also studied Human Evolution and Behaviour at You in Nairobi!

OTHER SOURCES: Music Tsunami

Well, due to a nasty flu bug, as well as a bad case of procrastination and distraction, I haven't finished this month's podcast. So instead, you're getting a kinda sorta preview.

The next podcast is music picked by guest producer, Trinity Neal, who founded Music Tsunami, an independent music site here in Des Moines.

So this week's post will look at the site and present the compilation album that they put out.

Music Tsunami describes itself as in the following way:

"This page is to give support and pay tribute to: All our musicians, bands and artists that are sharing their talents with us. They struggle in their daily lives to trade their passion in for pennies so that we can have music in our world.

"This is an ALL genre promotion page. You will not be turned down because of the genre you or your band plays. All of you are invited as well as encouraged to post to your music, pics, videos, show information, merch etc..."

PLAYLISTS: Valentine's Day - Iowa Style

Well, back when Joe Lawler worked for Juice instead of Cityview, he put together a playlist of songs by Iowa artists for a wedding issue of Juice.

"If you go to a lot of weddings, you start to hear the same songs over and over again. “Maybe I’m Amazed” for the 14th time? How original.

"There are plenty of great songs by Iowa musicians that deserve to be on your wedding playlist. Here’s an assortment that will save your guests from having to hear “(Everything I Do) I Do It For You” again."
- from Joe Lawler in the original article

I asked Joe if he wanted to add anything to what he had written before, and this is what he had to say:

"Wow, I don't remember the process that went into making this list. It was for a wedding issue of Juice, which were always a nightmare to put together. So many venues to call. I think I asked for love songs by Iowans on Facebook or Twitter. There's some solid stuff here, but I'm not sure I listened to them in order before you made this playlist. Someone should get married, use this and report back on how it went."

All the songs are the YouTube playlist unless YouTube took down my video of the Poison Control Center song! Spotify and SoundCloud are missing a few.

As a bonus, I felt this song was appropriate:
